The Children of Incarcerated Parents National Conference is Being Postponed

In light of the most recent recommendations from the CDC, we have decided to postpone the Children of Incarcerated Parents Conference to a date that will be determined at a later time.

It is our hope that many of you will still be able to attend, present, exhibit or sponsor CIP 2020 when we have a firm date for the rescheduled conference. As we future plan for CIP 2020, we will send email updates as information becomes available.

It is our hope that we will be able to proceed with the conference agenda and plans as they currently exist at a future date, but realize that will be dependent upon everyone's schedules and availability.

If you need to cancel your current registration please email childwellbeing@asu.edu with "Registration Cancellation" in the subject line.

We look forward to the time when we can deliver what was shaping up to be a really fantastic conference.

Do I need to cancel my hotel reservation? *Updated 3/24*
The hotel has cancelled all of the CIP2020 reservations off their system. You should get a notice of cancellation directly from the hotel.

Yes, you will need to cancel your own reservation with the Wigwam. As we work towards rescheduling the event and finding a new date for CIP 2020, it is advised that you cancel your reservation and rebook once we have a new date scheduled. Since we are postponing the event and not canceling it, the hotel needs to cancel reservations individually and not as a block attached to our event.

I cancelled my registration but the charge hasn't been reversed on my credit card?
-The registration system does not notify us if cancellations done by the registrant. Please email childwellbeing@asu.edu with the subject line "Registration Cancellation" and we will reverse the charges.

**Update 3/12/20***
Out of an abundance of caution President Crow announced yesterday that students would be attending classes virtually for the two weeks proceeding Spring Break (currently in process).  This is to prevent the spread of any potential exposure students may have had over their break and potential travels.  The university in a statement stressed there is no change in the significance of threat here at ASU or in Phoenix.

As of today, events and conferences are still occurring.

His full statement can be read here

We have had questions regarding the conference in relation to the Coronavirus. At this time, ASU and the Center for Child Well-Being intend to move forward with the conference. We are keeping abreast of the situation as it develops, but at this time the conference will go on as planned.

However, if an individual is unable to attend due to a medically diagnosed case of Coronavirus, a refund will be issued to the attendee, with a doctor's note.

Arizona State University faculty council was addressed yesterday by the Provost regarding the virus and was assured that ASU is fully equipped to mitigate these kinds of incidences. The University has a pandemic commission and plans are in place should levels of the infected rise dramatically.

We were advised to once again practice diligence in preventing the spread of germs by washing our hands, avoiding touching our face after coming in hand-to-hand contact with other individuals, and practicing the same germ-prevention techniques we do with other colds and viruses, including staying home when we are sick, covering our mouths and noses when we sneeze and cough, and sanitizing areas once the illness has been reported.

According to USA Today and Insurance Business America, it is recommended to purchase "cancel anytime" fares for travel, as standard travel insurance will not cover cancellation due to Coronavirus.

We will work with anyone affected by COVID-19 in canceling your hotel reservations to avoid cancellation penalties by the hotel.
